Salvation Through Grace: A Call to Righteousness

Salvation Through Grace: A Call to Righteousness

Yes, we are saved by grace—just as the thief on the cross, undeserving yet fully pardoned, was granted entrance into paradise. _"Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."_ (Luke 23:43) Christ bore our sins upon the cross, shedding His blood as the perfect atonement. _"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."_ (Ephesians 2:8-9)

But what does this mean for us? Does grace alone guarantee our entrance into heaven, regardless of how we live? No, for Jesus Himself, in His earthly ministry, offered forgiveness but also issued a charge—_"Go and sin no more!"_ (John 8:11). His healing was not just an act of mercy but a call to righteousness.

God does not *need* our works, but He *desires* our obedience. Grace is not a license to continue in sin but a bridge to a life transformed by the Spirit. As James reminds us, _"Faith without works is dead"_ (James 2:26). We are called to walk in holiness, not to earn salvation, but to reflect the work God has already done within us.

This is not a one-sided relationship, where we simply receive and remain unchanged. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19), and out of that love, we offer our lives as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God (Romans 12:1).

So let us walk in grace, but also in obedience. Let our salvation be evidenced not just by what we believe, but by how we live.
