“From Missteps to Multiplication”

“From Missteps to Multiplication”
Scripture: Romans 8:28 (HCSB) — “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.”

This week, I took a tumble—literally and figuratively. Dentist appointments wore me thin, and a stair-step mishap reminded me that gravity still works. My head might’ve been a little rattled, but my spirit held firm.

Even so, God wasn’t finished writing the story. I ordered an Instant Pot, but it got delivered to the wrong doorstep. Temu refunded me, and I ordered a bigger one—thirty dollars cheaper. Two days later, I found someone else’s order on mine. Turns out, we’d swapped. She had my Instant Pot, I had her package. What could’ve stayed tangled turned into connection: we met, we shared a laugh, and I made a friend.

I tried giving her the Instant Pot—figured that was the neighborly thing—but she wouldn’t take it. So now I’m sitting here with two Instant Pots, a full belly from a roast that melted like mercy, and a new friend in the neighborhood. God turned what felt like a week of pain into a double blessing.

Life has a funny way of bruising us just before it blesses us. Sometimes, it’s the fall that steers us into new friendship. Sometimes, it’s a refund that results in more than we expected. And more often than not, it’s in these quiet exchanges—these doorstep encounters and humble meals—that God reminds us His plan is alive and well.

Reflection:
What missteps has God used in your life to multiply His goodness? Have you dismissed a detour that might just be divine?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for working even in the smallest details of our days. Whether we’re falling down stairs or swapping Instant Pots with strangers, You are at work. Help us see Your hand in every twist, and give us hearts open to friendship, blessing, and grace. Amen.
