Freedom and Human Dignity

I am not afraid to die; what terrifies me is living on my knees in a society ruled by men whose control over our lives diminishes our God-given dignity. We are taught that true wisdom begins with reverence for the Lord, not with a submissive bow to human authority. As Proverbs reminds us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10), not the worship of those who seek to control our destiny.

When we surrender our will to mortal rulers, we risk becoming little more than tools—useful only until we are no longer deemed necessary. Such a state of being is antithetical to the spirit of Colossians 3:23, which calls us to work wholeheartedly for the Lord rather than for men. Innovation, creativity, and personal achievement suffer when we allow systems that promise equality to smother individual drive and initiative.

Historical ideals like communism, socialism, and Marxism often begin with the noble promise of uplifting the destitute and sharing equally. Yet, in practice, these systems tend to level not only the playing field but also the spark of individual potential. We are urged in Romans 12:2 not to conform to the patterns of this world but to embrace a transformation through the renewal of our minds—a transformation that allows us to discern and act upon the will of God, forging ahead with innovation and authentic progress.

Our educational institutions, which once celebrated genuine learning and critical thought, have at times become places of indoctrination rather than inspiration. The promise of shared wealth and equal opportunity often leads to complacency, where the pursuit of excellence is sacrificed at the altar of conformity. In such environments, the virtues of hard work and self-improvement—gifts from our Creator meant to fuel our journey—are eroded. Instead, we must stand firm in our faith, remembering that our true worth is measured not by the applause of society but by our commitment to living out God’s purpose.

By upholding a spirit of independence and by never losing sight of our divine calling, we resist the temptation to bow down unnecessarily. Our liberation lies in the embrace of God’s wisdom, which empowers us to create, innovate, and lead lives marked by integrity and courage.
