Reflections on a Year of Trials and Faith
Reflections on a Year of Trials and Faith
This past year has been one of deep reflection, sorrow, and resilience. In the middle of spring, I lost my father—a man who had spent his final days in prayer, ready to meet the Lord. While his mind may not have been as sharp as it once was, his spirit was prepared, and that assurance brought comfort even in the pain of saying goodbye.
But the losses didn’t stop there. Friends departed, one after another, and now there is one more whose health concerns weigh heavily on my heart—though out of respect, I will not elaborate. And then, just as the weight of grief settled over me, my own health took a turn. By August, I was near death, rushed to the hospital as my body was failing. My sodium levels had dropped so dangerously that my kidneys were shutting down. It was a moment where life and death hung in the balance. But God was with me—placing the right people in my path, guiding me through the darkness.
The care I received was nothing short of a blessing. The nurses in ICU were compassionate and attentive, and when I was moved to the main floor, I encountered more incredible souls—people whose kindness and dedication carried me through. Even amid challenges, I saw God's hand working through them.
Returning home, however, was another battle. The enemy wasted no time in stirring up stress. Bills, complications, exhaustion—it all came crashing down the moment I stepped back into reality. And yet, through it all, I held onto faith.
As the months passed, my body continued to struggle. Weight dropped, muscle deteriorated, and now I face the challenge of rebuilding my strength without the full support of proper physical therapy. Insurance helps little, but God’s provision is greater than any policy. Despite these trials, I stand firm, trusting that He will carry me forward, just as He has before.
If you're a praying person, seek forgiveness, be repentant, and walk with God. And if you're not a praying person, now is the time to start. The world will tell you that you can live however you choose, but the truth is, if you are not walking with God, you are walking toward destruction. As the song goes, *"Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to go today."* Yet, the reality is, we don’t choose our time—God does.
For those caught in addiction, despair, or self-destruction—hear me. Your past does not dictate your future, but your choices do. Stop blaming others. Own your actions. Seek truth. Surround yourself with voices that uplift, not ones that pull you deeper into the darkness. It’s time to break free and follow Christ.
Life won't become easy just because you surrender to God, but the weight of your burdens will shift. He will carry what you cannot. The enemy will try to pull you back, but if you keep your eyes on God, He will lead you through.
This message has been on my heart for a long time, and I know it needs to be heard.
A Prayer of Strength, Repentance, and Trust in God
Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with humbled hearts, acknowledging Your sovereignty over all things. In the trials of the past year, You have remained faithful—guiding, strengthening, and surrounding us with Your presence. Even when sorrow and struggle threatened to overcome, You placed the right people in our path, showing us that we never walk alone.
Lord, we lift up every soul that reads these words. If they are weary, bring them rest. If they are lost, guide them home. If they are burdened by addiction, pain, or regret, remind them that Your grace is greater than their past. You are a God of redemption—One who restores broken hearts and transforms lives.
Father, let us not live by our own desires but surrender to Your will. Help us to walk in repentance and faith, knowing that Your timing is perfect and Your plans are far greater than our own. When the enemy tries to steal our joy, remind us that victory is already won in Christ.
For those who struggle to believe, let Your truth pierce through their doubts. For those who fear tomorrow, let them find peace in Your promises. And for those who feel unworthy, remind them that You loved us enough to send Your Son, that we may have life eternal.
May we stand firm in faith, no matter the storms ahead. May we be lights in the darkness, leading others to Your truth. And may we never forget that in every trial, every blessing, and every moment, You are with us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
