Feral kids really
They call their kids "feral kids." I guess most of my generation would be considered feral now when we were just doing normal kid things. Something happened to children over the past twenty years. They went from being kids who grew up getting dirty and sometimes hurt to becoming the "bubble wrap generation." Now, it's all about using hand sanitizer, staying indoors to avoid getting hurt or dirty. Video games and television have become the new babysitters, even when parents are home. Many kids don't read, don't write, and most can't write on paper.
Parents who allow their kids to go outside, get dirty, and maybe hurt a little are providing valuable life lessons. That's how kids learn that life is hard and dangerous. Calling them "feral kids" undermines the importance of these experiences.
